July 2026 Retrospective
Do you find it risible when I say the name Biggus Dickus?
EverQuest Legends launched
EverQuest Legends launched this month and the nostalgia hit me hard. I immediately had flashbacks of exploring Everfrost Peaks with my cousins over our dial-up internet connections. The graphics aren't going to blow anyone away and I'm honestly not sure the gameplay is going to hit with anyone who isn't over the age of 35 but I already know I am going to put a ton of time into this game.
Magnetizing miniature bases
As I was working on some Warhammer 40K miniatures this month I decided that I wanted to magnetize their bases for easier storage and transport. That lead me to this fantastic video by Goobertown Hobbies which gives a detailed breakdown on a variety of ways you can magnetize your miniature's bases. It also shows off a cool way to build magnetized painting handles which made priming my miniatures so much easier.
Satisfactory v1.2
Just wanted to throw out there that I started a new game of Satisfactory after v1.2 was released because I was really excited to try it with randomized resources. While it doesn't do anything to eliminate the early game grind it definitely allowed me to focus more on building scaleable factories versus scraping together whatever I could to complete the next milestone. I honestly think that even first time players should use the randomized pure nodes game mode because it will undoubtedly make the early game much more fun and the late game much more dynamic.
