E3 2019: Best in Show

It is way too easy to be negative and cynical about an event like E3 so this year I have decided that I am only going to spout positivity. With such an abundence of great games and my limited free time I can't waste any of it on stuff that doesn't bring me joy. So without further adiu here is a list of games from E3 2019 that start at "have me super fucking hyped" and move down to "you have my attention".

Keanu Reeves ft. Cyberpunk 2077

Before this E3 Cyberpunk 2077 was easily the game I was looking forward to the most, regardless of when it came out. Not only do we get a release date of April 16, 2020 but we find out that it stars Keanu Fucking Reeves. I'm just gonna call it right now, this is going to be my Game of the Year 2020.

DOOM Eternal

There really isn't anything else to say here except "Rip & Tear". November 22nd can't get here soon enough.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening was one of my favorite games on the Game Boy Color so this is a no-brainer purchase for me.

Final Fantasy VII Remake

I am oscillating between scared and beyond excited. The real-time combat makes me leery but every time a new character came on screen I had flashbacks to when I first played this game as a kid. As long as the combat isn't frustrating I'll play Final Fantasy VII remake just so I can live through the story one more time.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

I am well aware that this could be hot garbage. Dragon Ball Z games don't have a great track record. But 16 year old me would have absolutely killed to be able to play the Dragon Ball Z anime so I am going to give it a shot.

Battletoads

I'm down with the art style, the music is on point and the combat looks frenetic. They even brought back the bike segments! This looks like a perfect 5-10 hour couch co-op game with Elsie.

Baldur's Gate 3

I will admit that I've never actually played any of the old Baldur's Gate games. But I have wanted to play something by Larian Studios and this looks like the perfect first game to pick up.

Astral Chain

This is a PlatinumGames production so I must abide.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

It has been a really long time since I lost myself in an Animal Crossing game but this one looks to be pushing all of the right buttons so far. It is a shame that it got delayed until 2020 because it is going to have some serious competitors for my time.

Phantasy Star Online 2

I am honestly straight up shocked we are getting this game in the West. It's been out almost seven years in Japan so I figured they had just written off localizing it.

Tales of Arise

I have never actually played a Tales game but I've only heard good things. The biggest problem this game has going for it is that it is going to have to fight for my attention if it is being released in 2020.

Watch Dogs: Legion

OK I will admit that I never thought I would be putting a Watch Dogs game on this list but Ubisoft's gameplay demo was really enticing. The idea that there is no central protagonist and you can switch between dozens of recruits for your resistance is a breath of fresh air. As long as the mission types are quite varied I could see this being a really fun game.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is on this list strictly because it is a Respawn game. My interest in Star Wars has waned in recent years but I will follow Respawn Entertainment to hell and back.

Xbox Elite Controller Series 2

I've already preordered one. I am a consumer whore.

Halo Infinite

I love the Master Chief but 343 Industries really has to show me more if they want this to be a day 1 purchase. This game was announced over a year ago and they still haven't shown a shred of gameplay. I know it isn't launching until next holidays with the new Xbox but still. They gotta show us something because this slow burn isn't going to work.

Age of Empires II Definitive Edition

I am more of a Age of Empires III fan myself but I still love the series as a whole so I'll could see myself picking this up.
